ABSTRACT:As the development of Chinese Ecological City, the demand of weirs becomes more and more seriously, not only to facilitate general functions such as shipping, irrigation, flood discharge, but also provides harmonious with environment, ecological waterscape. Several new types Steel Structure Moveable Dam emerges and spreads in China along with rubber dam gradually are replaced for its vulnerable of bags, unable to promptly discharge flood, poor landscape effect, etc. This paper briefs origins and development in engineering application of 5 new steel structure moveable dam, including: Horizontal Sluice Gate, Pneumatic Shield Dam, Steel Dam Gate, Hydraulic Lifting Dam, Hydraulic Elevator Dam, furthermore it explains how these dam works and its structure characteristics through diagram. Finally, through comparison of foundation requirement, civil works quantity, installation difference, operation, ecological waterscape, shortcomings and cost analysis,this paper summarizes and analyzes the applicable and inapplicable river way conditions for aforesaid 5 new steel structure dam and provides professional knowledge background for application of steel structure dam.
